It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas!!

Tonight was EXCELLENT!!  My family and I had a date night; we ate dinner and watched Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer.  I know this is going to sound absolutely crazy, but tonight was my first time ever watching this movie!!  Shocking, right?  I really enjoyed it a lot, and I found it very hilarious that my dad practically knew the entire movie word for word; it's his favorite Christmas movie.  So now that our Christmas tree is up, we've watched our first Christmas movie together as a family, everything seems to be falling right into place...it's really starting to look like Christmas.  Now, all we're missing is snow, which I doubt'll happen down here, but hey, a girl can hope, can't she??

New Blog Idea

I cannot believe that I missed blogging last night!!!  What is wrong with me??  Okay, so I got a little consumed with homework last night, which kept me from blogging, but hopefully that doesn't happen again.  So as I've been browsing the blogging word, and I ran across a lot of blogs on book reviews and I absolutely LOVED them; they inspired me to start one.  So for the next few days (hopefully by the weekend), I will have my new blog up and running which will be dedicated strictly to eBook reviews!!!  I don't know if I've mentioned this before or not, but I am OBSESSED with my Kindle app on my Mac.

Racism...Will it Ever End???

Racism (noun):  Prejudice or discrimination directed against someone of a different race based on such a belief.

WE ALL BLEED RED PEOPLE...get it together!!
A lot of people are blinded by the fact that racism is still a HUGE issue out there in the world today...people can say what they want, but I feel like it is still an issue.  For example, today while I was scrolling through the News Feed on Facebook, a young man made a comment that was so offensive that I REFUSE to repeat here.  My thing is, if you're going to judge someone, don't group all people together just because of their race; if you think a person is ignorant or dumb, it's not because they're black, white, red, yellow, purple, it's because of their character.  When Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. made his speech, he said that people should by judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin, and I think people should take this into consideration.  I honestly don't get racism, I don't understand why people, mainly minorities, are so looked down on...it's 2011; this has to end at some point!!

What is Love???

Today while I was on Twitter, I ran into this quote:  "Love exists in many shapes and forms; in math, love is a problem.  In history, a battle.  In science, a reaction, and in art, a heart."  This quote completely stunned me, because all of those things are true.  Love is something that everyone will experience at some point in their life.  To me, love is like art; now, it could be because of the fact that I'm an art student, but I don't know.  I'm in love, but not with a guy, with my art...my writing.  I love art period; I love how people's stories can be told through art, whether it's writing, paintings, drawings, even fashion.  I also love how this three letter word can have so many forms.  Art and love is amazing!!!

Thanksgiving & Leslie DuBois

First and foremost, I would like to wish each and everyone of you a Happy Thanksgiving...I hope that your days were fun, safe, and filled with great food.  I must admit, I've never been big on Thanksgiving, and it's not because I'm not thankful for everything I've been blessed with; honestly, I'm not sure what it is.  This Thanksgiving was very different though, I guess after you've been through as much as I've been through these past couple of years, you learn to appreciate things a lot more than you used to.  You should never let a day go by without letting your family and friends know how much you love them; I ALWAYS let my family know how much I love them, but friends are a little different. Now, don't get me wrong, I love my friends, but I'm sure it'd be weird if I'd tell them that I loved them every single day, especially a select few.  If they were to have any doubt though, they should know that I'm very thankful for them.

In other news, I did absolutely nothing today, except for stuff my face (which I refuse to work off) and finished reading my book, "Ain't No Sunshine," and I must say that book was MAGNIFICENT.  I don't think I've ever read a book with so many twists and turns, but it was done very tastefully.  I don't wanna spoil the ending, but I guarantee you, you will not see it coming.  Leslie DuBois is an amazing author, whose books touch on some very touchy subjects, including interracial relationships.  The next book on my list is "The Queen Bee of Bridgeton" by Leslie DuBois.

Everyone should read this book...it definitely makes you wonder:  HOW FAR WILL YOU GO TO BE WITH THE ONE YOU LOVE??
